For the winter semester, the AI consultant team at Helmholtz Munich is seeking a student to enhance the user experience of the Oligo Designer Toolsuite. This package is currently a command-line tool that requires configuration files. Instead, we would like to develop a Graphical User Interface (GUI), preferably web-based.

Your Profile

  • Knowledgeable in the Python programming language.
  • Experience in UX/UI design.
  • Basic knowledge of Version Control Systems (e.g., Git).
  • Familiarity with Streamlit or other web-based frameworks is a plus.
  • Strong team player, comfortable in an agile work environment.
  • Currently enrolled as a Master's student in computer science or a related field.

Your Tasks

  • Familiarize yourself with our Oligo Designer Toolsuite and provide usability feedback.
  • Design and implement an intuitive GUI to make configurations interactive and user-friendly.
  • Develop a system to manage pipeline runs, including:
    • Tracking the execution status of ongoing runs.
    • Allowing users to launch and monitor runs, even after leaving the window.
    • Managing a job queue to handle multiple pipeline requests.

What We Offer

  • Competitive student salary (6-month contract).
  • Flexible working times.
  • Opportunity to get a glimpse of the research consulting world within Helmholtz.

Application Process

Please send your CV and a link to a code repository (e.g. GitHub, gitlab etc…) to isra.mekki@helmholtz-munich.de.
