Student assistant at the Department of Educational Sciences: 3D modeling to help design the AMC Edu:Lab

About us
Learning Sciences and Educational Design Technologies is situated within the Department of  Educational Sciences of the School of Social Sciences and Technology at the Technical University of Munich. We focus on research at the intersection of learning sciences and design to advance understanding of how state-of-the-art creative design technologies can foster STEM learning for all students in school and out-of-school settings. 
 

Responsibilities
The student assistant will support the design of the AMC Edu:Lab as well as the facilitation of learning activities connected to Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC).
 

The AMC Edu:Lab is a part of Collaborative Research Center Transregio 277 - Additive Manufacturing in Construction (AMC; https://amc-trr277.de/), which researches innovative 3D printing methods, materials, and designs to increase sustainability in construction. Our project aims to create opportunities for youth and the general public to engage with AMC by creating AMC Edu:Lab, a mobile learning space. With the AMC Edu:Lab, youth will gain practical experience in digital design and 3D printing, enhancing their technical skills and familiarity with modern construction methods and materials used in additive manufacturing. We want to highlight the importance of sustainability in the built environment and empower youth to see themselves in the fields of construction and architecture. 

Requirements

  • Experience in architectural design and engineering
  • Very good creative skills and experience with common digital design tools
  • 3D modeling skills, preferable knowledge of Rhino and Grasshopper
  • Interest in education and learning sciences
  • Excited about facilitating learning activities with children and young people
  • High proficiency in German and English.
