Student assistant for robotically fabricated brickwork building envelopes

13.11.2023, Studentische Hilfskräfte, Praktikantenstellen, Studienarbeiten

Seeking a motivated student enrolled in a bachelor's or master's program in architecture or engineering for a HiWi position in the interdisciplinary research project "Climate Active Envelopes" at the Professorship of Digital Fabrication. The role involves hands-on work at TUM's Collaborative Construction Lab, focusing on robotic fabrication of brickwork and integrating material systems for full-scale demonstrators.

What this project is about?

We are looking for a HiWi that is interested in participating in the interdisciplinary research project Climate Active Envelopes funded by the Bayerische Forschungsstiftung. The project is conducted using an experimental, case study-based methodology on a scaled robotic setup that investigates architectural design principles for geometric differentiated brickwork building envelopes, the development of a computational design tool to explore site-specific solutions informed by climate-aware criteria, and the exploration and validation by means of robotic fabrication workflows.

Requirements
- Enrolled in a bachelor's or master's degree, either in architecture or any field in engineering
- Interested in robotic fabrication processes and in real-scale experimental architectural studies
- Motivated for hands-on work sessions
- Knowledge in Rhino is mendatory, python helpful

Tasks
- Working in the Collaborative Construction Lab at TUM (Arcisstraße) for the robotic fabrication of brickwork
- Working with robotic fabrication processes, and the integration of material systems for the assembly of full-scale demonstrators

We offer a collaborative friendly working atmosphere with flexible working hours from 8 to 16 hours per week starting from now (3-6 month period).
