Sample Environment Mechatronic (m/f/d)

FRM II is currently looking for a mechatronics technician full-time (40 h/week) to work at the Sample Environment group for the provision of specialized equipment for neutron research that requires parameters like high or low temperatures, magnetic fields, or pressure control.

Technical University Munich operates the high flux Neutron Source Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) located at the scientific campus in Garching, Germany. The neutron source itself, its research instruments as well as the irradiation facilities provide unique possibilities for the scientific and industrial use of neutron beams.

FRM II is currently looking for a mechatronics technician full-time (40 h/week) to work at the Sample Environment group for the provision of specialized equipment for neutron research that requires parameters like high or low temperatures, magnetic fields, or pressure control.

As part of the Sample Environment Group, your main task is the design, construction, programming and testing of the control and monitoring systems of the sample environment equipment. You will work alongside the sample environment engineers in the search for technical solutions that allow maximizing the efficiency of the control systems and/or electrical equipment used in furnaces, cryostats and magnets.


Responsibilities:

As a Mechatronics Technician in the Sample Environment group, your tasks are:
• Construction, programming and testing of mechatronic systems in the laboratory
• Installation and commissioning of mechatronic systems on scientific instruments
• Creation of circuit diagrams and production documents
• Commissioning and testing of scientific prototypes in accordance with the relevant guidelines and regulations such as DIN/VDE
• Implementation of electronic circuits in prototype development
• Integration of mechanical and electronic components in mechatronic systems
• Carrying out functional tests and fault diagnostics on mechatronic systems



Qualification and Experience:

• Completed vocational training in the fields of mechatronics, electro mechanics or a comparable field
• Ability to work independently
• Have a high willingness to learn and interest in working in a dynamic and international environment with interdisciplinary teams from science and technology
• Experience in setting up mechatronic systems
• Solid knowledge of the relevant electrical engineering requirements in device construction
• Knowledge of E-CAD applications
• Knowledge of PLC programming is an advantage
• Fluent in written and spoken German; knowledge of English is required.
• Very good manual skills are required, with the ability to work in a team and an interest in acquiring specialized knowledge.
