Issue 01/2012
Dear Students,
Having completed more than 100 days in office as Vice President for Student Affairs and Teaching, I would like to take this opportunity to take stock of what has been achieved in this initial term. What do I feel constitutes good teaching practice, and how can we continue to improve standards even further? How important is it to me what the students think, and in what burning issues need to be addressed? I provide the answers to these questions and several others in this edition of TUMstudinews.
We are delighted to announce that TUM will be awarding a total of 260 National Scholarships in 2012. TUM is one of just a handful of German universities that can once again take full advantage of the maximum scholarship quota that is legally permitted. This is mainly due to its long-standing partnerships with companies and private foundations which “go halves” with the government in providing the funding.
The Service Desk of the SSZ is now offering a new service: there are currently 12 student assistants from an international background supporting the hotline team, in order to provide the students with even better access. They answer questions in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish, Arabic or Chinese over the telephone or via email. More assistants are needed!
With kind regards,
Your
Prof. Regine Keller
