Women of TUM Afterwork: Against all Odds. How to Become a Professor
Dienstag 15.11.2022, 19:00 - 20:00
To this day, social upward mobility in Germany is lower than in most other developed countries (OECD 2018). With parents who did not attend university, it is more than unusual for TUM Alumna and TUM mentor Kerstin Prechel to have been appointed to a professorship.
In this Women of TUM webinar, she will speak to us about equality of opportunity and the highs and lows of her career journey. Sharing personal advice on how to navigate a career when the straightforward path is full of obstacles and potholes, Kerstin Prechel will also dive into how she manages a career that oscillates between industry and academia and talk about what it is like to work in a male-dominated environment.
Kerstin Prechel received her doctorate in business ethics from TUM in 2014. She is a professor of Project Management, Organization and Key Competences at the Duale Hochschule Schleswig-Holstein (DHSH). Prior to this, Professor Prechel worked for more than ten years in various international companies, amongst others as Head of marketing and product management.
There will also be plenty of time for you to ask questions and share your own experiences.
