Dr. Stephan Ulamec
In August 2014 Rosetta reached comet 67P/Churyumov-Gerasimenko after a 10 year cruise through space. Its lander Philae successfully touched down on the comet on November 12th 2014. During the first days on the comet, images from the surface could be transmitted to Earth, organic molecules were detected, and the physical properties of surface material as well as the interior of the nucleus were determined. Philae went into hibernation on November 15th. Radio contact was re-established from June to July 2015, but no reliable or predictable communication link could be achieved.
Dr. Stephan Ulamec, Philae Lander Manager at DLR, will summarize the last year of Philae on the comet and present the landing, operation, science outcome, and the future plans for this exceptional mission.
This seminar talk is public and free of charge – no registration required.
