Marc Guinot is Chief Engineer of the A380 since 2007, the year when the aircraft entered service with Singapore Airlines.Since its launch, Airlines and passengers had demanded A380 operational reliability to be at a very high level at Entry into Service. For such a large and innovative project how this objective can be reached, how are the design teams anticipating this request? An overview of the A380 operations throughout the world will be given followed by an analysis of operational reliability drivers, in order to understand the importance of a robust development plan, from the architecture of the aircraft systems to the detailed design of equipments. In the very early phase of the design, it must be anticipated that years of operations in all kinds of environments are expecting the aircraft. All the project team must be aligned on this objective, and this includes the supply chain as well.
