Abstract: Climate change, but also fossil fuel costs and energy security, are triggering a fundamental rebuilding of the energy infrastructure.
The key challenges are:
Generation: Costs, intermittency and often distributed nature of renewable power generation, as well as storage.
Transmission, distribution and consumption:
Smartening
of the distribution infrastructure, including advanced grid control, smart meters, demand management and energy efficiency.
Transport: e-cars and alternative fuels.
The talk will provide an overview of these topics in global markets from a business perspective. It will separate myth from reality and point out key future challenges, including open technical issues.
