Excursion to Augsburg
Samstag 19.03.2011, 09:00 - 16:00
In March 2011 we will visit the city of Augsburg.
Founded in 15 B.C. by the Romans at the confluence of the rivers Lech and Wertach, Augsburg, along with Trier and Kempten, is one of Germany’s three oldest cities. Particularly during the Renaissance, Rococo and Industrial eras, Augsburg played a leading role Europewide; today it is the third-largest city in the state of Bavaria. Famous sons of the city include the business magnate Jakob Fugger, the composer Leopold Mozart and the writer Bertolt Brecht.
We will go to Augsburg by train (45 minutes train ride) and then have a guided tour through the city centre that will take about two hours. Afterwards, we will have lunch altogether. The afternoon is at your disposal and we will take a train back in the afternoon.
