Classical Concert & Christmas market

Sunday 28.11.2010, 11:00 - 15:00

Venue:

Cultural Centre Gasteig, Rosenheimer Platz (public transport: S1-S8)

Each year the first Sunday of Advent is reserved at the TU Munich for the TUM - Advent Matinee in the cultural center Gasteig. The event is a pre Christmas concert and family reunion of our university. It is organized to bring together students, professors, postdocs, alumni and friends out of several TUM generations.

The Symphony Ensemble Munich (SEM) under the direction of Felix Mayer will perform a challenging concert program including compositions of Johannes Brahms, Richard Wagner and Johann Sebastian Bach:
  • R. Wagner: Overture of “Die Meistersinger” (The mastersingers)
  • J. S. Bach: Concerto for three pianos in D minor, BWV 1063
  • J. S. Bach: Concerto for four pianos in A minor, BWV 1065
  • J. Brahms: Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98
Afterwards we will have the opportunity to visit the famous “Christkindlmarkt” (Christmas Market), which is located near the Marienplatz. We will invite you to a
cup of the typically German “Glühwein” (hot wine) and hope you will enjoy the special Christmas atmosphere. You and your families are welcome to join!
