Classical Concert & Christmas Market

On the first Sunday of Advent the TU Munich invites to the TUM - Advent Matinee in the cultural center Gasteig.Afterwards we will have the opportunity to visit the famous “Christkindlmarkt” (Christmas Market), which is located near the Marienplatz.

The Advent Matinee is a pre Christmas concert and family reunion of our university. It is organized to bring together students, professors, postdocs,
alumni and friends out of several TUM generations. The Symphony Ensemble Munich (SEM) under the direction of Felix Mayer will perform a challenging concert program including compositions of Johannes Brahms and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart:

• J. Brahms: Academic Festival Overture op. 80
• W.A.Mozart: Concerto for three pianos and orchestra, KV 242 (“Lodronconcerts”
• J.Brahms: Symphony No. 2 in D Major op 73.

Afterwards we will have the opportunity to visit the famous “Christkindlmarkt” (Christmas Market), which is located near the Marienplatz. You can try a cup of the typically German “Glühwein” (hot wine) and enjoy the special Christmas atmosphere. You and your families are welcome to join!

Meeting place: Cultural Centre Gasteig, in front of the restaurant “Gast”
Price: Free of charge, but donations for the TUM childcare facilities in Garching and Weihenstephan are appreciated; individual consumption at Christmas market
Deposit: EUR 10,- per person (to be paid until Nov. 10th, 2009 ; refund at the event)

This event is part of the "CULTURAL PROGRAM FOR INTERNATIONAL RESEARCHERS AND FRIENDS" organized by the TUM International Office:
The program that has been newly established was specifically designed for all international postdoc researchers, guest lecturers and professors as well as their partners and children. It is aimed at showing you a few more facets of TUM, Munich and Bavaria to help you to feel at home during your stay as well as facilitate the networking among each other and with your German counterparts. Therefore the program is open to everyone who wants to join and if you like and places are available you can also bring your friends along.
