Bachelor Thesis Opportunities in Applied Data Analytics at Campus Heilbronn / Remote
Are you a student of computer science, information engineering, or a related subject? Are you seeking an exciting Bachelor’s or Master's thesis project solving an interdisciplinary data science problem? Are you curious about the underlying patterns of big data in biomedical research, materials science, or other quantitative sciences? It could be a match!
The group of data analytics and statistics at Campus Heilbronn regularly offers projects between of data analytics and scientific applications. It all starts with the data – and this should come from a collaborating group of TUM. Ideally, you reach out by yourself to researcher groups to identify a suitable data set.
You will then do the data analytics part of a larger problem in a certain field of research. This means to tailor cutting-edge machine learning tools to a specific, real-world scientific problem – an exciting but also demanding task. This way, you can give a valuable contribution to ongoing research, even without being an expert in that field.
We have previous expertise in finding materials descriptors for
semiconductors by dimensionality reduction, learning blood
pressure pulse waves by neural networks, and analyzing mass spectroscopy data for muscle growth.

Study (Bachelor or Master) in computer science, information engineering or related fields OR a subject that allows for an interdisciplinary data science project (physics, biophysics …)
Good understanding of machine learning and statistics;
Motivation to read-into and acquire the domain knowledge of a specialized scientific field
Good programming skills in Python, ideally also with deep learning;
Open for work in remote (if you are not a student at Campus Heilbronn)
