Doktorandenstelle im Bereich NMR basierter Strukturbiologie

PhD and PostDoc Positions in Visual Computing: DeepLearning for 3D Reconstruction, Semantic Scene Understanding, and Motion Capture

The brand-new research group "Visual Computing" of Prof. Matthias Niessner offers several PhD and PostDoc positions at TUM in the department of computer science. The positions focus on hot applications in 3D Vision, Artificial Intelligence, and Computer Graphics. Specifically, we aim to reconstruct high-quality 3D models from RGB and range sensors (e.g., Microsoft Kinect), we infer semantic information from 3D environments, thus helping computers to understand the real world, and we develop algorithms for real-time marker-less motion capture to generate dynamic 3D content. To this end, we use machine learning techniques, deep neural networks, variational optimization approaches, and many other cool things :)

Research Associate (50%) for a funded project in Urban Studies on Doha/Qatar expired

We are seeking to appoint a Research Associate 50% (E13 TV-L) complementing our team in a joint research project with the University of Qatar funded by the Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF). Cities on the Arabian Peninsula have recently acquired a geo-strategic importance. Through the shift of global economic forces, cities in the region, and Doha is no exception, have developed to central hubs between old economies of Western Europe and the rising economies of Asia. In the context of international competition between cities new challenges are emerging. The project aims at identifying emerging patterns in the urban structure of Doha, driven by network of cooperation and competition as well as existing local qualities and restraints. It applies a relational research concept in order to assess the status quo on the Arab Peninsula. Going beyond recent research on Mega-City Regions, this comprehensive approach allows to synthesise the urban development perspective with that of economic geography. The appointment starts on 15th October 2010 and is fixed for 3 years. We are looking for a person who has a strong background in urban design analysis who will be able to conduct the empirical studies in Doha focusing on the built environment. For up to 50% of the time he/she will therefore be based at Qatar University. An understanding of processes involved in knowledge intensive work and general globalization issues is required to link in with the other work on the project. Analytical thinking and the willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team are vital for the successful candidate. Very good English language skills are indispensible. We are offering the possibility to do a PhD. Severely disabled persons will be favoured over other applicants if they have the same experience. PhD Position in the project "Fast semi-analytical acoustic inversion for quantitative optoacoustic tomography" expired

The Chair for Biological Imaging at Technische Universität München is seeking applications from highly motivated candidates for a 3-year GSISH-funded PhD Studentship. Major focus of the project is the development of advanced imaging algorithms including multi-spectral real-time imaging. The resulting image reconstruction method is intended to significantly improve existing techniques. Also part of the project is the demonstration of the new method with experimental phantoms and pre-clinical data. Due to the alliance of the chair with both the TUM Medical school / Klinikum Rechts der Isar and the department for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as the close association with the Institute for Biological and Medical Imaging at Helmholtz Zentrum München the candidate has the chance to work in a highly interdisciplinary, multi-national team with numerous connections and contacts throughout the world.
