Chemical Technical Assistant / Chemical Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) – 50%

To expand our team, we are looking for a Chemical Technical Assistant (m/f/d) or Chemical Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) to start as soon as possible in part-time employment (50%).

About us
The Professorship of Functional Materials for Food Packaging (FMP) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is a research group within the Life Science Engineering Department of the TUM School of Life Sciences at the Weihenstephan Research Campus. Our international and interdisciplinary team of researchers develops functional polymer materials, innovative processing technologies, and novel pathways to plastics recycling. We use chemical and polymer synthesis methods, supramolecular self-assembly techniques, materials science investigations, pro-cess engineering, and microbial biotechnology to develop innovative solutions to the challenges associated with the use of polymer materials, with a particular focus on food and packaging applications. Our facilities encompass chemical laboratories, analytical and polymer characterization facilities, microbiological laboratories, and dedicated space for process engineering investigations. Requirements
 Completed training as a Chemical Laboratory Technician, Chemical Technical Assistant (CTA), or a comparable qualification
 Practical laboratory experience with excellent knowledge in the field of organic chemistry and spectroscopy
 Experience in physical and technical analysis such as shear rheology, optical microscopy, spectroscopy (NMR)
 Independent, systematic, and meticulous working style, strong organizational skills, and the ability to document work clearly
 Team spirit and enthusiasm for scientific activities
 Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word) and databases
 Good command of both German and English
Responsibilities
 Support in diverse research projects in the fields of chemistry and polymer science
 Training in instrumental analysis
 Preparation and characterization of samples (e.g., calorimetry/DSC, NMR, IR, UV-vis spectroscopy)
 General laboratory management (including ordering consumables and ensuring safety)
 Data collection and analysis, as well as preparation of manuals and experimental documentation
 Routine maintenance of equipment, organization of service and repairs
