Die neue Arbeitsgruppe “Crop Synthetic Biology” am Forschungsdepartment Molecular Life Sciences sucht eine Technische Laborassistenz (PTA/BTA/CTA/BSc oder vergleichbar) (f/m/d) in Vollzeit (100%) mit Beginn am 1. Wer wir sind
Wir sind eine neue Nachwuchsforschungsgruppe an der Technischen Universität München (Standort Freising) und werden für die nächsten sechs Jahre vom Bayrischen Staatsministerium für Wissenschaft und Kunst gefördert. Unsere Forschung ist im Bereich der synthetischen Biologie der Pflanzen sowie Protein- und metabolisches Engineering angesiedelt. Wir kombinieren Grundlagenforschung mit anwendungsorientierter Forschung, um nachhaltige und resistente Nutzpflanzen zu generieren.

Ihre Aufgaben
- Pflanzentransformation (Arabidopsis, Nicotiana, Tomate)
- Proteinexpression in Mikroben (E. coli und Hefe), Proteinreinigung
- Molekularbiologie: Isolierung von Nukleinsäuren, PCR, Protoplastenfusion, Klonierung, etc.
- Labormanagement
- Unterstützung von Studenten

Voraussetzungen
- Abschluss als Pharmazeutisch-/Biologisch-/Chemisch-technische Laborassistenz, Bachelor of Sciences (z.B. Biologie, Biochemie, Biotechnologie) oder vergleichbar
- Erfahrung mit Pflanzentransformation (stabil und transient) in Arabidopsis, Nicotiana und Tomate
- Erfahrung mit Proteinexpression, Proteinreinigung, SDS page, Western blot
- Erfahrung mit Molekularbiologe (PCR, Isolierung von DNA/RNA, Klonierung, Transformation von E. coli und Hefe, Medienpräparation, etc.)
- Sie haben Spaß ein Labor zu managen und haben herausragende organisatorische Fähigkeiten.
- Sie mögen es im Team zu arbeiten und Studenten zu unterstützen.
- Sie sind offen für neue Techniken und lernen gerne neues.
- Sie sind motiviert, zuverlässig und zeigen Initiative.
- Sie sind verantwortungsbewusst.
- Sie haben Erfahrung mit gängiger Computersoftware (z.B. Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Sie haben gute Sprachkenntnisse (Deutsch mind. B1; Englisch mind. C1).
- Erfahrung mit Protoplastenfusion, Enzymkinetik und Transformation von Nutzpflanzen (z.B. Gerste und Weizen) sind erwünscht, aber nicht erforderlich.

The new research group “Crop Synthetic Biology” at the Department of Molecular Life Sciences is seeking a technical assistant (pharmaceutical/biological/chemical technical assistant, BSc or similar) (f/m/d) to start fulltime (100%) December 1, 2024.

Who we are
We are a new research group at the Technical University of Munich (location Freising) funded for six years by the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts. We do research in the fields of plant synthetic biology and protein and metabolic engineering. By combining basic and application-focused research, we aim at creating sustainable and resilient crops.

Your responsibilities
- Plant transformation (Arabidopsis, Nicotiana, tomato)
- Protein expression in microbes (E. coli and yeast) and protein purification
- Molecular biology: nucleic acid isolation, PCR, protoplast fusion, cloning, etc.
- Lab management
- Assisting students in the lab

Requirements
- You hold a degree as a pharmaceutical/biological/chemical technical assistant, BSc or similar.
- You are familiar with plant transformation (stable and transient expression) in Arabidopsis, Nicotiana and tomato.
- You are familiar with protein expression, protein purification, SDS page and Western blot.
- You are familiar with molecular biology techniques (PCR, nucleic acid isolation, cloning, transformation of E. coli and yeast, media preparation, etc.).
- You have fun managing a lab and have exceptional organizational skills.
- You like working in a team and assisting students.
- You are open to new techniques and like to learn new things.
- You are motivated, reliable and take initiative.
- You have a good sense of responsibility.
- You are familiar with standard computer software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- You have good language skills (German: B1 or higher; English: C1 or higher).
- Experience with protoplast fusion, enzyme kinetics and transformation of crops (e.g., barley, wheat) is desirable but not required.
