Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Functional Beverage Biotechnology «

Scientific Environment

The professorship will be assigned to the TUM School of Life Sciences, Department Life Science Engineering. TUM and TUM School of Life Sciences provide centralized core facilities and support, including the Bavarian Center for Biomolecular Mass Spectrometry (BayBioMS), the Research Center Weihenstephan for Brewing and Food Quality (BLQ), the TUM Life Science Tech Core Facility, TUM Venture Lab Food-Agro-Biotech, ZIEL – Institute for Food & Health and the Leibniz Supercomputing Center.

 

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Beverage Biotechnology with a special focus on (bio-) functional beverages. Key research areas can include biotechnological and enzymatic approaches for health promoting beverages, microbial strain selection and metabolic engineering for bioactive compounds, fermentation technology as well as formulation of bio-functional ingredients. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, such as Brewing and Beverage Technology, Brewing (with degree Master brewer, “Diplombraumeister”), and Food Technology programs.

 

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
