Scientific environment
The professorship will be assigned within the TUM School of Medicine and Health to the TUM Department of Sport and Health Sciences. TUM School of Medicine and Health pursues an interdisciplinary and translational research approach; close cooperation within the school, but also with the TUM School of Engineering and Design, the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MIRMI) and within the TUM Geriatronics Initiative offer a unique scientific platform. In addition, non-university research institutions and the Bavarian Olympic Training Centre in Munich provide an outstanding research environment.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Biomechanics with a focus on the fundamentals of the mechanics of the musculoskeletal system, the modelling and simulation of movements, as well as preventive aspects of load control in the context of sport and prevention. This includes the application of innovative technologies and methods for analysing movements and loads. Close cooperation with the Bavarian Olympic Training Centre and a focus on sports science are also expected.
Teaching responsibilities include participation in TUM's Bachelor's and Master's degree programs, in particular in the Professional Profiles Sports Science and Sports Education, as well as in the Master's degree program Human Factors Engineering at the TUM School of Engineering and Design. Successful applicants are expected to be committed to interdisciplinary and innovative teaching formats.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated excellent achievements in research and teaching in an internationally recognized scientific environment, relative to the relevant career level (please see www.tum.de/en/faculty-recruiting-faq/ for further information).
A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad, the interest to engage in interdisciplinary co-operation, as well as the proven ability to acquire competitive third-party funding (e.g. DFG, EU, BMBF) are expected.
