Full Professor in »Engineering Resilient Cognitive Systems«

The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Full Professor in »Engineering Resilient Cognitive Systems« to begin in winter semester 2020/2021. The position is a tenured W3 position.

Scientific environment

The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Informatics.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Engineering Resilient Cognitive Systems. The focal points are (1) model-based software and systems engineering with a focus on model-based safety and reliability engineering for cyber-physical systems, (2) self-adaptation for implementing resilient cognitive systems as well as resilient software architectures for safety-related fail-operational systems. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

The professorship is associated with a management position at the Fraunhofer Institute for Cognitive Systems IKS, which includes the scientific and entrepreneurial coverage of the topic area in the context of the Fraunhofer model. Besides the scientific guidance of research programs you will be responsible for project acquisition /-management as well as the corresponding transfer into industrial applications. An additional responsibility is human resource management.

Qualifications

We are looking for a candidate with high international reputation who has demonstrated an outstanding academic record and an internationally recognized research program. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification as well as pedagogical aptitude, are also prerequisites. Research experience in an international context is expected.

Furthermore, long-term leadership experience from larger, interdisciplinary and application oriented research groups is required. A track record of planning, acquisition and implementation of projects with industrial partners is an advantage.
