The Technical University of Munich (TUM) invites applications for the position of Tenure Track Assistant Professor in » Mammalian Cell Biology « to begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term position (6 years) with tenure track to a tenured W3 position (Associate Professor).

Scientific Environment


The professorship belongs to the Department Molecular Life Sciences within the TUM School of Life Sciences. The TUM School of Life Sciences is located at the vibrant campus of Freising – Weihenstephan providing a multitude of possibilities for research collaborations in the areas of e.g. Physiology, Proteomics, Immunology, Neurobiology, and Reproductive Biotechnology on site.



The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. To strengthen agricultural as well as animal sciences at the TUM School of Life Sciences, we seek to appoint an expert in the research area of Mammalian Cell Biology with a focus on subcellular cell organization, cell-cell interaction, stem cell cultures and/or organoid cultures. The teaching load includes courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs, especially in the fields of biology, molecular biotechnology, biochemistry and agricultural Bio-Sciences.



We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification to perform research in the fields of cell-cell interaction, stem cell cultures and/or organoid cultures as well as pedagogical aptitude, including the ability to teach in English, are prerequisites. Substantial research experience abroad and full commitment to do interdisciplinary research is expected.
