We are looking for a Technician (m/f/d) (CIT2024-19) to join our team immediately, part-time (50%) to full-time, initially limited to 2 years.

About Us
We, the Chair of Bioinformatics at TUM, are looking for a talented and motivated IT administrator to join our international research team as soon as possible to support the operation of our IT systems.

Job Requirements
We are looking for a dynamic individual who thrives on tackling technical challenges, has a knack for implementing and automating IT infrastructures, and is keenly interested in their practical application. While experience in bioinformatics, Kubernetes, or Slurm is considered a plus, it is not a strict requirement.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with a diverse team of scientists, students, and professionals to undertake various responsibilities including system administration, contributing to websites and publications, database maintenance and enhancement, and the deployment of applications. The ideal candidate will have excellent English communication skills, robust experience with Python and shell scripting, a strong understanding of the Linux environment, and prior experience in server/cluster management. Proficiency in web development technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS, along with experience in script automation and database systems, is highly desirable.
We value superb communication abilities, the capacity to work autonomously, adaptability, and a proactive approach to learning new skills. We encourage curiosity and a passion for self-improvement and are open to career changers. This position offers the opportunity to delve into DevOps and MLOps technologies and significantly contribute to cutting-edge scientific research.
Join us if you are looking for a place where your curiosity and desire for continuous learning are met with exciting challenges and the chance to be part of pioneering scientific endeavors.

Responsibilities
As an IT Infrastructure Specialist, you will be tasked with developing and overseeing both software and hardware solutions critical to our cutting-edge research initiatives. Our foundational infrastructure relies on Linux-based file and GPU servers, while our front-end operations predominantly utilize macOS.

We offer
This role is available for full-time and part-time engagement (minimum 50%), initially on a 2-year contract basis. Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience within the TV-L E10 pay scale. Career progression opportunities are available and linked to tenure.
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment and encourage applicants of all abilities to apply; accommodations are available for persons with disabilities. To balance our workforce, we encourage applications from women and underrepresented groups.

Application Details
Don't miss this exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative team of scientists on groundbreaking research projects! We look forward to receiving your complete and meaningful documents (including certificates, CV) and a short motivation (in English), preferably in the form of a single PDF file, quoting the reference number CIT2024-19 to jobs@cit.tum.de, by May 7, 2024.
