Issue 04/2011
Dear Students,
As the newly-appointed Vice-President for Student Affairs and Teaching, may I welcome you cordially to the winter semester 2011/12 at TUM. The new term kicks off with the good news that more than 16 million Euros have been made available for funding the TUM: Teaching agenda project, to improve conditions for your studies and raise teaching standards even further. A wide range of individual measures have been planned to ensure that you all benefit from these funds.
TUM has instigated a large number of measures to cope with the considerable influx of undergraduates due to the double cohorts of secondary-school leavers. These include the construction of two interim lecture halls on the Garching campus. They can accommodate a total of 730 students and will be taken into use immediately!
The University Governing Board of TUM is also pleased to introduce the newly-elected Chief Information Officer, CIO Hans Pongratz, in this semester. At the age of just 32, he is the youngest Vice President the University ever had. Like myself, Hans Pongratz also studied at TUM.
Please take a look at the latest edition of TUMcampus, TUM’s magazine for students, staff and friends of the TUM, too.
Yours sincerely,
Prof. Regine Keller
Vice President for Studies and Teaching |
