Dr. jur. Otto Wiesheu

Former Bavarian Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Transport, Infrastructure and Technology
Member of the Board of Deutsche Bahn AG, Berlin

Dr. Otto Wiesheu was born in Zolling, Bavaria, on October 31, 1944. He became Deutsche Bahn AG’s board member with responsibility for economic and political affairs on January 1, 2006. He studied law in Munich from 1966 to 1970. In fall 1970, he passed his first state examination in law, passing the second examination three years later. He obtained his doctorate in 1977 under the supervision of Prof. Blumenwitz on the topic of “International Law Relevance of Territorial and Border Regulations in Ostpolitik treaties”. From 1972 to late 2005, Dr. Wiesheu was a member of Freising county council. He served as a member of the Bavarian parliament from 1974 to December 31, 2005. From 1984 to 1990, he was Director of the Hanns Seidel Foundation. In 1990, Dr. Wiesheu became Secretary of State in the Bavarian State Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and the Arts. From June 17, 1993 to November 29, 2005, he was Minister of State for Economic Affairs, Transport and Technology. He is a lieutenant in the military reserves, Catholic and married with four children.
