MünchenDescription of course of studies
The new course of studies “scientific principles of sports” (Bachelor of Science) is the consequent development of the existing course of studies “sports sciences” (Bachelor of Arts) with the aim to grant you scientific access to sports as well as to convey the relevant methods to you.The thematic structure of this course of studies varies considerably from the present study and examination regulations for the diploma/BA in sports sciences. Its profile goes clearly towards the professional scientific work besides the teaching profession in sports and is also supposed to strengthen our students’ competence in research methods. The emphasis will be placed on scientific/theoretical aspects and the practical implementation will be done exemplary. Proportionally you will learn (by mainly excluding sports practise) key qualifications (scientific methods, diagnostics, knowledge of the musculoskeletal system and its functions) that are demanded in various sections of leasure time sports, competitive sports and therapeutic sports in essentially greater detail.
Basically this Bachelor provides a substantial universal basis for master programs specialising in the areas health, media and communications and competitive sports as they are also offered at the faculty.
By the primarily scientific education this course of studies meets the demands of a BA of science (B.Sc.).
The Bachelor course of studies offers an excellent, research and methods- oriented education. It is addressed to students with an extraordinarily high performance potential and a deep interest in scientific issues concerning sports. A basic qualification of motor skills in the sense of an admission test is not necessary since the scientific performance and ability has to be proven clearly in this course of studies. The student’s own practical realization is clearly none of importance.
As a consequent adaption to the demands and contents of this course of studies the selection and qualification of the students is conducted by means of a specialized aptitude entrance test (EfV) and not by means of the practical sports exam.
