Description of course of studies

The Master's degree course in Management and Technology (TUM-BWL) is a follow-up course to the TUM-BWL Bachelor's degree course in Business Administration. Outstanding, highly motivated graduates from the TUM-BWL Bachelor's degree course form the primary target group. Graduates with a good degree in Business Studies or Industrial Engineering can also apply. Should it turn out that these candidates are not in possession of Business Fundamentals and/ or Basics of the Engineering and Natural Sciences Subject from the first Bachelor's degree course in TUM-BWL, they will be asked to attend additional modules in order to attain the relevant level of proficiency. Applicants' main area of interest should be Business Administration coupled with a willingness to acquire the academic and social competence required for employment purposes by obtaining a basic knowledge of a scientific or engineering subject, as well.

The aim of the course is to provide future TUM-BWL Master's students with in-depth strategy and research-oriented skills at the interface between Business Studies and Engineering or Natural Science. The syllabus is intended to prepare graduates as comprehensively as possible for prospective executive positions in companies or research posts.

Major fields of study

Business Administration field of specialization
The Business Administration specialization program expands on the knowledge acquired in the major discipline of Business Administration in the TUM-BWL Bachelor's degree course. Students are required to complete a compulsory module in the chosen subject. There is an attractive list of options with which to earn each of the remaining credits. Students can choose between the three Business Administration fields of specialization given below:
  • Innovation & Entrepreneurship
  • Marketing, Strategy & Leadership
  • Operations & Supply Chain Management
  • Finance & Accounting
Specialization in Engineering or Natural Science
One field of specialization should be selected from the following list of subjects. Students are required to earn a total of 30 credits:
  • Mechanical Engineering: Technical Logistics/ Production Technology/ Product Development
  • Electrical Engineering & Information Technology: Electrical Engineering/Information Technology
  • Chemistry: Chemistry
  • Computer Science: Corporate Applications/Technical Applications
