'STATE EXAM'
'State exam' is the popular, colloquial term commonly used for the graduation examination that qualifies a student for a degree or a level of proficiency which is assessed by a state examination board. The contents of the course of studies and the examination are governed by law. In contrast to this practice, diploma, Magister, Bachelor's or Master's examinations are conducted by the seat of higher education attended by the student concerned. The reason for the special state control is the public interest in the quality of certain qualifications for candidates wishing to pursue a career in an academic profession, teaching or the civil service.
