Mathematics in Operations Research is a full-time master’s program with a standard period of four semesters. This program requires a bachelor’s degree in mathematics or a comparable.A high-quality mathematical education, specifically in the fields of modern Optimization (Linear, Non-linear and Combinatorial Optimization), Stochastics (Stochastic Processes, Time Series and Data Analysis), as well as in the field of Numerical Analysis, enables students to create and analyse complex models specifically suited to economic scientific assignments. On the job training is also accomplished through obligatory internships in industry and economics.
The Mathematics in Operations Research course of study at the TUM is meant to prepare students pursuing future careers in: banks, insurance companies, public utilities, consulting companies and public authority, as well as in research and development departments of large corporations. Graduates of this course of study will be qualified to work in all fields involving optimization such as: Portfolio Theory; Actuarial Science, Controlling; Marketing; Auditing; Tax Accounting and Commercial Data Processing.
