ClimaDesign presents solutions for buildings which can achieve more while needing less technology. Its aim is to develop buildings which offer maximum comfort while using minimum energy. Thus, a holistic approach towards the planning procedure becomes necessary. Architecture and technology should not be planned in a serial manner, but must form a balanced and complete system at the end of a multidimensional process. The major field of study and the aim of ClimaDesign is an interdisciplinary education to develop building designs which are optimized in terms of energetic performance and their building climatology performance. Thus, the formerly independent disciplines of design, energy and engineering are merged.
The Master’s program ClimaDesign addresses the subject areas sustainable building and holistic planning in four inter-coordinated semesters. Each semester offers a large amount of practical experience due to the fact that students handle current scientific and practical topics. Furthermore, external teaching staff with the relevant professional experience is integrated into the course. Field trips to relevant companies round off the variety of practical elements throughout the course.
