Description of course of studies

The Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry is a joint degree from Technische Universitaet Muenchen (TUM) and the National University of Singapore (NUS). Its newest improved curriculum is planned carefully to prepare students to be the leaders in the fields of pure and applied chemistry as well as pharmaceutical applications. The course is held in Singapore and administered by the German Institute of Science and Technology (GIST)-TUM Asia, Singapore.

Our curriculum is designed to prepare students for both career in scientific areas and industry. The Master of Science in Industrial Chemistry is a full time intensive programme that runs over 18 months. Students will complete 1 business and technical English module, 10 technical modules, 3 cross-discipline modules in semester 1 and 2. The technical modules consist of 4 core modules (+practical) and 3 elective modules under chosen specialization, and 3 elective modules. Each technical module has 45 contact hours. After coursework period, students are required to complete 2 months internship and a 6 months master thesis to be carried out for the full semester 3. The internship and thesis may be undertaken either at NUS, TUM or in a company in Singapore/Germany.

TUITION FEES
The tuition fee is SGD 15.000 (Singapore Dollars) per semester

Application

A bachelor's degree or equivalent in chemistry or related disciplines from a university with recognized standing. Application documents assessment/ written test and / or interview with the Joint Admission Board of the Faculties of Chemistry of NUS and TUM.

To apply, there are two steps.

  2. Send printed out of online application and hardcopy required documents
CV with details of previous study (which institutions of higher education attended, examinations passed, etc.), proof of university degree, certified translation of the above document (if not in English), TOEFL results if university course was not conducted in English, 2 passport-size photos, name and contacts of two references (minimum two recommendation letters either from Professor or Employer), passport or identity card, and motivation letter (signed by applicant).
