As „Chemistry of Life“, biochemistry creates the link between biology and chemistry. The biochemist analyzes the organization of cells and organisms on the molecular level, and elucidates reaction mechanisms. In this context, e. g. protein structure and function, the transport of intracellular substances, cell differentiation, signal cascades or the molecular response to stress are topical research fields. The biochemist uses chemical, molecular-biological and biophysical methods to address these topics. The specialization of this course is „structural biochemistry“, particularly, the regulation of structure and conformation of proteins and enzymatic reactions.Curriculum (link)
