Description of course of studies

During the first four semesters, students are taught the foundations of natural science: mathematics, physics and chemistry. At the same time, they receive specialized instruction in the basics of technical science – mechanics, thermodynamics, electrical engineering and automatic control – and are taught materials science, machine elements and introduction to CAD as prerequisites for designing machines and devices. Courses in information technology and business studies provide an overarching focus.

In their last two semesters, students range a wide variety of topics to gain the specialized knowledge about production technology and logistics that they need to enter the professional arena. Lectures like Material Flow and Logistics, Methods of Company Management, Metal Forming and Cutting, Manufacturing Processes, Materials Handling and Flow, and Automation Technology provide the necessary foundations. Through this balanced curriculum, the Bachelor’s course of study in Production and Logistics provides the methods, skills and technologies that logistics and production engineers need to perform their everyday tasks as efficiently and economically as possible.

The modular structure of the subjects gives students a great deal of flexibility to adjust their course content to their own interests. An 18-week internship supplements theoretical knowledge with practical experience. At the end of the course of study, students write a Bachelor’s thesis.
