Medical Life Science and Technology (PhD program)Course of studiesDegreePhDDuration of study (semesters)6LanguageEnglischLocationMünchenDescription of course of studiesThis three year graduate program provides a high-level scientific training for students with a background in medicine as well as for those with a background in natural and life sciences or engineering. It consists primarily of an experimental scientific project that is performed in the laboratory of a faculty member. The practical work is complemented by interdisciplinary lectures, seminars, practical courses and laboratory rotations. Currently, the main research areas represented in the program are the neurosciences, molecular medicine, oncology, immunology and infection, cardiovascular and imaging. An important new aspect that concerns only medical students of the Technische Universität München is that these students can be admitted well before obtaining their final medical degree. In an attempt to improve their clinical-scientific education, they will be able to follow their regular medical studies and the training within the PhD program in parallel.Major fields of studyNeurosciences, Molecular Medicine, oncology, Immunology and Infection, Cardiovascular and ImagingGuide to study (Link)http://www.phd.med.tum.deCourse of studiesMedical Life Science and Technology (PhD program)InternshipInternshipnot requiredApplication and admissionApplicationOnline application only, twice a year via the program website: http://www.phd.med.tum.deAptitude testyesInformation on the aptitude testEvaluation of written applications and personal interviews with the program's admissions committee.Start of courseWinter and summer termApplication PeriodMay 31 for the winter term, Nov 15 for the summer termAdmission notificationBy email once admissions process is finished, September for winter term, March for summer termApplication documentsApplication form included in online application, certified copies of high school and university degrees and transcripts, proof of English skills (preferably IELTS Academic or TOEFL scores) no older than two years, motivational letter.
