MASTER'S DEGREE

Master courses follow on from a successfully completed first course such as Bachelor, Magister, Diploma of State Examination and as full time courses have a duration of 1 to 2 years. Depending on the particular course they may involve a more detailed treatment of the subject from the first course or encompass a completely new topic. Also, for example, a later reorientation and return to university for a master course after a period of professional employment is facilitated.

The tighter structure of the courses leads, among others, to a shorter duration of studies. So, for example, the average duration of studies (Bachelor + Master or Diploma) is 11.2 semesters and thus markedly lower than the German average.
