BAFÖG - OFFICE FOR FINANCIAL SUPPORT
The Office for Financial Support is responsible for deciding the eligibility for grants in accordance with the Federal Education Assistance Act (BAföG). This applies to students of higher education in Upper Bavaria (Oberbayern) and includes scholarships for students with outstanding academic performance based on the Bavarian support program for the highly gifted (BayBFG) for all college students with a Bavarian school-leaving certificate.
Responsibilities:
- Processing applications/paper-work relating to the financial aid, assessing eligibility, issuing notification, paying grants and student loans
- Membership of financing committees, accepting applications and granting long-term credits for completing a degree course awarded by the Loan Office of the Student Unions and Student Aid Centres (Darlehenskasse Bayerischer Studentenwerke und Studentenhilfen)
- Processing applications, acceptance and payment of short-term loans
- Determining entitlement to free meals
The Student Support Office is incorporated in the Student Union Munich (Studentenwerk München).
