A semester ticket für students doesn't exist in Munich yet.
The Munich public transport authority (MVV) offers a ticket for students (student rate II - "Ausbildungstarif II") enabling to use trains, subways, trams and busses with the discounted “time card“. All students registered at public universities can obtain a customer card for this purpose.
When applying for the customer card, you need to provide:
- a completed order form
- a passport photograph
- printout of the enrollment certificate with the MVV logo (student card only is not sufficient)
- proof of registration

For students withs course later than 9:00 the "Isarcard" might be an alternative.
