Living in Munich is relative expensive.
After current calculations you need an amount of at least 830 € / month (inclusive rent, but free time activities are not included) for living in the Bavarian provincial capital Munich. But you only need to proof 650€ at the office of foreign affairs. The mentioned amount must be assured for the whole time of studying, as you cannot count on scholarships and you are only allowed to work under special condition.

Health- and long term care insurance:
§ Citizen from the EU and from countries with a social insurance treaty: free of charge
§ All others: circa 65-66 € (from April 1st, 2011 the rates will raise to about € 76-78)
Average rent prices:
§ Dorms: circa 160,00 - 360,00 €
§ Private market: circa 200,00 - 600,00 €
Board: circa 300,00 €
Transportation costs (MVV): (depending on place of study and address): 30,10 - 63,90 €
GEZ-fees (Central radio and television toll collecting agency)
· Radio = 5,76€ / month
· Television = 17,98€ / month
· Radio and television = 17,98€ / month
Information regarding GEZ („Gebühreneinzugszentrale“): in Germany exists a legal fee for owners of radios and televisions. This means that every person owning a radio or television hast to pay a monthly fee to GEZ, also if these equipments are never or seldom in use! Further information about GEZ: liability to charge and remission.

Tuition fee: 500€ (further information in common, for master students,… can be found in the Student Service Center. Exchange students only need to pay the student services fee of 42 € )
