Double Degree

This program offers qualified students the opportunity to earn a degree from both their home university and a Diplom (Dipl.-Ing. Univ.) or Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree (Msc) from the TUM. The goal of the Double Degree Programs is to fully integrate the strengths of each cooperation partner’s courses into a joint program. Coursework and examinations completed at the TUM will be recognized.

Content of the Exchange Program
  • The term is two to four semesters; 
  • the Double Degree Program has a fixed curriculum and is normally offered only in the winter semester; 
  • for the term of the Program participants enroll as regular students and will be deemed students of the Technische Universität München;
  • Double Degree students at the TUM are not required to pay tuition fees (€ 500), only the contribution to the student services organization [Studentenwerk] (presently € 42);
  • we help students find reasonably-priced accommodation (e.g. dormitories) in and around Munich.
Application Requirements
Application Documents

Double Degree students will be selected by the partner university and nominated for the Program at the TUM. The International Office of the home university will send the application documents to the TUM. We require the following documents:

  • Online application: Please fill in the application form in german   Note: Please complete all sections of the form. Sections marked with an asterisk (*) are mandatory. Please do not forget to press the save (”Speichern”) button. After you have completed all sections, please review the data carefully and press the submit ("Weiter") button to submit them (please press the submit ("Weiter") button only once). Then proceed to click on create PDF File ("PDF-Dokument erzeugen"), print the application form, sign it and obtain the signature of your program coordinator. Important: With the online application you automatically apply for admission to the TUM.
  • Motivation Letter in German language (please explain why you have chosen TUM as your exchange university, approx. 1 page)
  • Curriculum Vitae/Resume in German language
  • Transcript of records (list of all examination/coursework results earned to date)
  • 1 passport photo for your StudentCard (no scanned or copied photo) - please stick on the online form
  • copy of your ID-card / passport (if available)

additionally for Double Diploma (expriring):

  • officially certified copy of the high school diploma and a document including marks of high school diploma (scanned documents will not be accepted)
  • translation of high school diplomas in languages other than German, English or French- must be translated by a public sworn translator (scanned documents will not be accepted)

additionally for Double Master:

  • officially certified copy of the Bachelor diploma and a document including marks of Bachelor diploma (scanned documents will not be accepted)
  • translation of Bachelor diplomas in languages other than German, English or French- must be translated by a public sworn translator (scanned documents will not be accepted)

 

The complete application documents need to be send by your university to the following adress (please do not fax!):

At the TUM the application documents will be reviewed by a faculty member. Upon receipt of confirmation from the program coordinator and a letter of admission the applicant is officially admitted as a student.

Application Deadline
  • 31 May for the winter semester of the current year

Please note that only complete applications including all required documents will be processed and submitted to the Enrolment Office (Immatrikulationsamt). If documents are missing, you will be notified by e-mail. However, further processing of your application is possible only after receipt of the missing documents. Documents submitted after the deadline cannot be processed.

Provided your application documents are complete, the International Office of TUM will send you a letter of admission in June/July by email.
