Content of the exchange program

As part of our bilateral partnership agreements, students can switch to TUM for 1 to 3 semesters. This gives students the opportunity to become thoroughly acquainted with the language, (learning) culture and lifestyle of our country.

Services offered by the exchange program

·         The term of study lasts at least one, but not more than three semesters.

·         Students are registered as international exchange students for this period and are accordingly regarded as TU München undergraduates.

·         Exchange students do not need to pay student fees at TUM but remain matriculated at their home university and pay the appropriate fees there.

Conditions of application

·         A good command of the language (either German or English, if you choose an English-medium course), to enable you to make a success of your studies.

·         A specific reason for wishing to study at our university which you must set out in a letter of motivation. You may get in touch with one of the TUM departments in advance in this connection (particularly if you are interested in doing in a term paper or a Master's thesis).

Application documents

The partner university selects the students according to their academic performance, dedication and language proficiency before nominating them for the exchange visit. Your application documents will then be forwarded to TUM via the International Office of your home university.

Nobody can submit an application until they have obtained their university's e-nomination!!!

Please submit the following documents (only in single copy):

·         Online application: students planning to attend German lectures should complete the German version of the online application Online application German; everyone else can fill in the English version English version

To do so, click on "end" and your application will be saved automatically. Now click on "create PDF document", print out the application form and complete the document with your signature and the signature of your international program coordinator. Important point: Application for admission to the TUM is an integral part of the online application procedure.

·         Curriculum vitae (CV) in English or German.
