Junior Science Manager (m/f)

Technische Universität München (TUM) is committed to the scientific training of junior researchers in science, engineering, life sciences and social sciences. With the TUM Graduate School (TUM-GS) it fosters the international nature of graduate education and promotes the scientific and interdisciplinary qualification of doctoral candidates to the highest international standards. A dedicated, international team at the Management Office of the TUM-GS organizes, develops and ensures the quality of the graduate program and all services. With its Science Management Qualification Program (SMQP), the TUM-GS has developed a structured way in the management of modern research and science.

The TUM-GS is looking for a

Junior Science Manager (m/f)
in the area of “Digitalization in doctoral training and administration”

You will be systematically qualified for specialist and leadership positions in international science management over four years. A certified program including on-the-job training as project manager and teacher/lecturer in TUM-GS courses, dedicated training seminars and individual services will assist you both in your professional and personal development. Together with your mentor, you specify your individual goals and get professional and strategic support through regular feedback sessions. By sitting in on different working groups of the TUM-GS, related academic institutions and international partners, you will get to know more about their work and subsequently take on challenging projects and leadership responsibilities in promoting junior researchers.

In the course of the SMQP you will focus your activities toward the area of digitalization in doctoral training and administration. You will be engaged with IT project management for DocGS, the TUM doctoral life-cycle management tool, especially maintenance and further development according to TUM and external requirements. Also interface management with the external systems supplier and multiple users as well as data quality management, data protection and data analysis of KPIs will be your tasks. Furthermore, you will work on the development of new concepts for digital infrastructure to advance doctoral education and administration, such as web-based training formats, IT-based professional networks and open access platforms. You will participate in various other activities of the TUM-GS with regards to process and quality management and financial controlling. Acquitting yourself well in your tasks and successfully completing the SMQP with a certificate will open great career prospects at the TUM as well as at leading universities and research institutes around the world.

We are looking for people who have strong analytical, conceptual and communication skills, problem-solving abilities and who are great negotiators. We expect a first class university degree and a proven interest and experience in IT systems. We assume a strong command of German and English as well as resilience and spontaneity.

Successful applicants will initially be given a two year contract, which is remunerated according to TV-L E13. The mutual collaboration of all at the TUM is based on equal opportunities. After passing the interim evaluation, the contract will be extended by two more years and, depending on performance, a certificate will be awarded at the end of it.
