Documentation Camtasia
Description: The creation tool Camtasia is used in Lehrstuhl III (sub-division III) of the informatics department. It is a commercial recording software and is produced by TechSmith. Camtasia enables the recording of screen activities, audio and videos recorded with a web camera. When editing the video it is possible to add callouts, quiz and additional audio tracks. The recorded videos may be transferred over the Internet or on a CD ROM or may be exported into Flash and other common video formats.
Use in the Lehrstuhl (sub-division): In the 2005/06 winter semester the "Datenbanksysteme" course (data base systems) is recorded using Camtasia. In the 2002/03 winter semester it was used in the "Einführung in Informationssysteme" (introduction into information systems) course and in the 2002 summer semester in the "Einsatz von Datenbanksystemen" course (using data base systems). The videos are not saved as streaming video. Despite the compression with Virtual Dub some videos are as big as 10 megabyte.
