Call a Lecture
Description: The Call a Lecture (CaL) creation tool is used in Lehrstuhl XI (sub-division XI) of the informatics department. CaL enables you to completely archive a conventional lecture electronically. No additional time or personnel is required. Anything happening in the course is recorded (audio, video and annotations of the lecturer). In this now electronic lecture an electronic environment is automatically integrated for the student. This enables the student to add his own annotations to the script at any point. Besides, these annotations may be exchanged with other students. For the time being, it is necessary that the course documents are available as html sites.
Technical procedure: The system currently consists of these three components:
- A recording server records all audio, video and event streams and saves them.
- A lecturer environment controls the recording server and provides the lecturer with an electronic blackboard.
- A student environment makes the recorded data available for students and enables them to add their own notes.
Use in the Lehrstuhl (sub-division): The CaL system has been used for several courses at differently developed stages. In the 2005/06 winter semester the lectures "Verteilte Anwendungen" (distributed applications) and "Info3" are recorded.
Here, you will receive further information about the CaL creation tool.
