Exchange - networking - transferable skills training: Several times a year the Kick-Off Seminars offer doctorates the opportunity to break the boundaries of their faculties and get to know one another. The themed seminars offer a variety of relevant transferable skills courses which all complement the qualification program of the TUM Graduate School.

The building and maintenance of international networks and co-operations is increasingly gaining importance within research and the industry. You should therefore be gathering your first experiences abroad during your doctorate. This Kick-Off seminar will provide you with tips and resources on how to use and expand your research internationally.Be Interdisciplinary
Dare to look beyond the obvious and use the stimuli of interdisciplinary approaches for your research project. During this Kick-Off Seminar you will learn how to lead interdisciplinary teams effectively, how to successfully communicate beyond the boundaries of specialist subjects or how to look at your own research in a completely new light.Science Goes Media
In the academic battle for research grants scientists must be capable of presenting their research successes and intentions in an optimal manner. Therefore the focus of this Kick-Off Seminar is to provide techniques for the precise and media-compatible preparation of your research.Project Management
“Develop your expertise” Change your point of view: Understand your dissertation as a project and learn more about efficient project management. This Kick-Off Seminar is concerned with various aspects of your first steps as an independent researcher. With a process-oriented view and a broad range of coordinated actions the workshops help to propel your dissertation project effectively.Leadership and responsibility
Doing a doctorate is a matter of taking over responsibility, too - for your own project, within your research group and in the scientific community. Those who are able to accept responsibility are on their way to leadership. Complement your skills and get prepared to take on the demands that come with leadership and responsibility. Join this Kick-Off Seminar and learn about various aspects of leadership especially regarding interaction, communication and management.Registration:
- In order to participate, you must be a member of the TUM Graduate School. For further information please contact info@gs.tum.de
- Places will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.
- The event is financed by the TUM Graduate School and will be of no cost to you. You can cancel your registration without incurring any fee, at the latest 2 weeks before the event begins. For cancellations up until a week before the start of the seminar, a fee of 50 € will be charged. For cancellations afterwards or non-attendance, the full amount of 600 € will be charged.
You need to attend the Kick-Off Seminar within the first 6 months of your membership. Please note, attendance at the Kick-Off Seminar is not a pre-requisite for attending any other transferable skills courses. Please see above the announced dates for 2011.
