TUM guest houses

TU München has very few facilities for accommodating postdoctoral researchers, visiting lecturers and professors from abroad in its own guesthouses, unfortunately.

TUM has a selection of 12 furnished and completely equipped flats of various sizes in the International Center for Science and the Humanities (IBZ) in Munich, which can be made available for periods not exceeding 12 months for single guests and couples, for families the period cannot exceed 18 months. Depending on the size of the flat, the rent including utilities, services and internet access is as follows:

• 1 or 1,5-room-flats between 648,- and 843,50 EUR
• 2-room-flats between 831,50 and 1045,50 EUR
• 3-room-flat between 991,- and 1100,50 EUR and
• 4-room-flat at 1321,- EUR

NEW since 20.07.2011: Extract from the regulations/statut of the IBZ concerning reservations/bookings:

• Only guests of non-German nationality can be considered.
• The apartments will only be rented out monthswise from the 1st until the 30th/31st of each month.
• The apartments can earliest be reserved 2 years in advance, but must be resered latest 4 months in advance.
• After an offer from the TUM for an apartment, you will need to let the TUM know within one week, if you would like to make a binding reservation.
• The apartment has to be taken for longer than 1 month. Queries for one month can no longer be taken into account.
• Cancellations from TUM guests should besides the International Office be communicated to the IBZ directly. The apartment will be in case of cancellations rebooked though the IBZ. Waiting lists will therefore no longer be in use at TUM, but only in IBZ.

There are no facilities for accommodating guests belonging to TU München in the campus or town of Garching and Freising-Weihenstephan.

Reservations for the IBZ should be submitted by your hosting department/professor to the Welcome Office within the International Office at accommodation@zv.tum.de .

It is not possible to accommodate postdoctoral researchers, visiting lecturers or professors in halls of residence belonging to the Student Union (Studentenwerk München).
