Flat-sharing
Lots of students in Germany live in shared apartments, and Munich is no exception. Each occupant has his/her own room in the flat, but the bathroom and kitchen are shared with the other occupants. This also applies to rooms that are sublet as well as to separate single rooms in some cases. Normally, no commission is payable on shared accommodation, and this represents the most economical way to live in Munich.
Newspaper advertisements
The local press also features a large selection of advertisements for accommodation on the days given below. If you are already in Munich, it is a good idea to buy the relevant edition of the newspaper at an Underground or Suburban railway station the evening before, in order to be one of the first in the "queue" of people wanting to contact the landlord or landlady, or to look up online accommodation advertisements. Please note that not all ads that appear in the printed media are necessarily included in the online overview, and vice versa.
