Which Services Can I Use with the TUM Account?

With the TUM Account TUM offers you a number of (IT) Services important for your study and work at TUM. Whereas the loginname may differ from system to system, the password is always the same.

Services are amongst others:

The campus management system TUMonline
The eLearning System der TUM
A @mytum.de and/or @tum.de email address and one corresponding mailbox (either as a common UNIX/IMAP mailaccount or as a Exchange mailbox) and/or forwarding to other Adresses. Further informations here
Personal and shared secure file space
Access to WLAN in the complete Munich Scientific Network (MWN) and via eduroam in all of Europe
Access to the ressources of TUM from outside via VPN
Access to the restricted and personalized areas of myTUM-Portal
Access to the huge electronic ressources of TUM Library
Access to TUM's wiki.tum.de
Access to a number of faculty web sites (access sometimes restrictet to members of the sub-organisation)
Access to a growing number of computer pools on campus

Most of these services are accessible for students, employees and guests of TUM only. Applicants and Alumni can only use a restrictet subset of TUMonline.

One cannot stress to often, that you should keep your password secret. Under no circumstance whatsoever you are allowed to give your password to somebody else. The IT Service Desk of TUM will never ask for your password. The owner of your loginname an password counld read your mails, access and delete your files, register or deregister you for exams and so on.

So be aware at which systems you enter your password. In doubt, ask IT Service Desk whether a system is a legal system of TUM. Change your password regularly. Chose "secure" - that is long an difficult to guess - passwords.
